The old HDD was failing so I had a tier 2 tech working on it and She decided to format the C drive(my OS) and it finally failed or refused to boot. I can hook it to the USB cloning cables and see what's on it.It appears to be okay,I may be able to use it's Recovery Manager if I could get it to boot. Iso from the old HDD so other programs I may be able too as well,as they were in my downloads!BUT,what I really need is the Recovery Manager to install the DVD player and the Web Cam programs onto the new HDD. I was able to extract my web cam and DVD player however only the web cam works! The DVD player is not recognising any disk nor is it in explorer like it was on my other HDD.It does show on my computer and driver manager,it just refuses to acknowledge any disk is inserted,it spins but never opens what the disk is! I'll give it a try and report back if it worked or not. Thanks!!! #Hp dmi tool efi install

SO now I only need to know how to get the DVD into explorer!!!I have tried all of the tricks I've read so far and nothing works. HP/Compaq requires a DMI utility be run on any hard drive swap so that the system recovery functions properly without complaining about it not being compatible, so I don't think cloning that partition even matters.

I had heard that as well, however HP is a joke as far as getting any more help from them,I'd have to pay!!! Last I read it was still almost $250 for the DMI utility. That's only a little less than I paid for this lap top brand new! No way I'm paying for anything from HP ever again.I'd buy another PC from a better Company before I'd pay much less recommend an HP to anyone, ever.

Sad thing is HP used to be a good Company!
